History of the term Plumber

The word "plumber" dates from the Roman Empire The Latin lead plumbum. Roman roofs used lead in conduits and drain pipes and some were also covered with lead, lead was also used for piping and for making baths. In medieval times anyone who worked with lead was referred to as a plumber as can be seen from an extract of workmen fixing a roof in Westminster Palace and were referred to as plumbers "To Gilbert de Westminster, plumber, working about the roof of the pantry of the little hall, covering it with lead, and about various defects in the roof of the little hall". Thus a person with expertise in working with lead was first known as a Plumbarius which was later shortened to plumber.

Team VIP

Phil - Director

Phil, an active relaxer, thrives on hard work. His favourite part of his job are renovations. He enjoys the process of creating new functional spaces out of the old and weary. Completely renovating his own 1950's bungalow into a modern retro space hasn't put him off. He has his eyes set on a Villa next - if he can get his head out of a car bonnet that is!

Ryan, also known as Skippy, crossed the ditch for us... with over 5 years of plumbing experience. He is well trained in roofing and drainage. He plays touch (no Aussie Rules here) for fun, when he's not hanging out with his young son.

Jae - Director

Jae is a part timer at VIP, lending a hand on big jobs . She's a gun at running new PVC spouting and helps keep the vans looking their best. When Jae's not working for VIP she's teaching at a local primary school or trying to keep up to date with the washing that a husband, two sons and a daughter make.
